Megaspeed exec with close ties to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang suspected of spying for China

An executive at Singapore-based data center firm Megaspeed has been accused of spying for China, targeting Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.. Officials in the US, Singapore, and Taiwan are reportedly investigating Alice Huang (no relation to Jensen) for working on behalf of the Chinese state..

Jensen Huang has called the claims “groundless speculation,” while the Chinese Embassy in Washington has rejected the allegations.. – Sebastian Moss. The New York Times reports that American officials concluded that Alice Huang was a Chinese intelligence asset with a close relationship to Jensen Huang..

Megaspeed has been publicly accused of helping ship embargoed Nvidia hardware into China, including in 2025 reporting from the NYT and Bloomberg. It is also alleged to have deployed GPUs in Malaysia and Indonesia that appear to remotely serve customers in China.. At the time, Megaspeed said that it was “a Singapore-based company, operating fully in compliance with all applicable laws, including US export control regulations.” Nvidia said that its compliance teams found no untoward activity..

Megaspeed said that it had faced several government investigations and reviews. “These thorough investigations have confirmed that there has been no evidence of any violations concerning the illicit transfer of chips or any illegal activities, and this demonstrates that we are a compliant and legitimate company,” Megaspeed said at the time..

During US surveillance of Alice Huang, it was discovered that she was in contact with an American citizen. While US intelligence agencies cannot surveil American citizens without a court order, they can argue for an ‘unmasking’ when citizens are in communication with surveilled individuals.

In this case, the unmasking revealed communications with Jensen Huang.. When President Donald Trump was first briefed on the intelligence a year ago, US officials did not believe the Nvidia executive knew about Alice Huang’s alleged information gathering for the Chinese. The US did not inform Nvidia or Jensen Huang about its suspicions..

“We’re confident that if the US government believes that any person is a threat to American industry, it would let us know,” Nvidia said in a statement.. The Singapore Police Force said investigations into Megaspeed are ongoing and declined to comment further.. Following the NYT’s story, Trump was asked by reporters if he still trusted Jensen Huang: “I would like to say yes.

I mean, unless we find out something to the contrary.”. “I’ve always found Jensen Huang to be very aboveboard. But you know, you’re dealing in a very complex issue.

We hope everything’s okay with Jensen.”. Nvidia has long pushed for greater access to the Chinese market, responsible for a fifth of its sales before the US limited chip exports.. Lobbying by Nvidia and Jensen Huang, which has included private dinners with Trump and a $20m donation to the White House Ballroom, has helped reverse some of the Biden-era restrictions..

Limited quantities of Nvidia H200 GPUs are allowed to be exported to China, with the US government taking a 25 percent cut. The Chinese government has also enforced its own import restrictions on the hardware to foster domestic competition.. In March, the cofounder of server maker Supermicro, Wally Liaw, was arrested on charges of violating US export-control laws by allegedly working to smuggle $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia GPU servers into China.

The company has denied wrongdoing; Liaw has pled not guilty.. 05 Aug 2026. 12 May 2026
