Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is broadening its quantum affiliations in its quest for a vision of impending computing environments that meld supercomputers, AI accelerators, and quantum processors. Today at HPE Discover 2026 (June 15), the corporation declared amplified collaborations with eight quantum technology firms as part of a wider endeavor to incorporate quantum computing into high performance computing settings and devise hybrid computing architectures that blend classical and quantum resources.

The enlarged research associations encompass Intel, IQM, Qblox, Quantinuum, QuEra Computing, Quantum Machines, Rigetti, and Riverlane. The collaboration aims to investigate the compatibility of various quantum technologies with traditional HPC systems for supporting upcoming scientific and industrial tasks.

This move signifies HPE’s continuous efforts to expand its Cray supercomputing platform from conventional HPC to a more extensive compute environment, which now comprises AI accelerators and will eventually incorporate quantum processors. This is related to the topic of Quantum Leap.

Opinions are divided on the near future implications of quantum computing. “By combining supercomputing and quantum technologies within a single platform, we can expedite the process of moving discoveries from theoretical research to practical implementation,” stated Trish Damkroger, the senior VP and general manager of HPC & AI Infrastructure Solutions at HPE. This approach, which she refers to as ‘All Roads Lead to Quantum,’ aims to bridge the gap between exploration and application in the realm of quantum computing.
