DataBank, a US operator, has submitted a proposal to build a data center campus in Georgia. The company has applied for a Development of Regional Impact with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a location in Cartersville, outside Atlanta. – Google Maps. Cartersville is the county seat of Bartow County and is situated 22026 miles northwest of Atlanta’s downtown.
Project Indo is planned to be developed by DataBank at 227 acres located at 22026 Industrial Park Road. The project aims to establish a 200MW data center campus covering an area of 1.1 million sq ft (102,193 sqm). The initial phase of the project is expected to commence in 2032.
The land presently belongs to Colloid Environmental Technologies Company (CETCO), a construction materials company. The current production facility is near a power substation. When completely developed, the cost of the project may reach $2.4 billion.
The firm has submitted an application for a 270MW power grid connection. Established in 2005, DataBank manages over 65 data centers throughout the US in 25 urban areas. Its current presence in Atlanta encompasses 177MW across six establishments and 751,270 square feet.
The biggest site for the company in this region will be located farthest from downtown, and it’s in Atlanta and the surrounding areas, which have typically been a Tier 2 market. However, the rising demand for data centers has led to an influx of proposed data center developments.
Over the past few years, DRI applications have been submitted for over ten educational institutions, covering extensive areas in numerous facilities, amounting to several million square feet in total. Numerous establishments are situated in Atlanta’s conventional data center region within Fulton County, but applications have been submitted for projects all over Georgia.
