The latest addition is located in Tokyo, and according to Alibaba, is targeting demand from Japanese customers in the retail, gaming, entertainment, and manufacturing sectors.. Takeshi Kurita, general manager of Japan and South Korea, Alibaba Cloud, said: “The launch of our fifth data center in Tokyo, combined with the local availability of Model Studio and access to our latest AI models, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to Japan’s digital future.. “We are seeing unprecedented demand from Japanese enterprises who are eager to leverage agentic AI to drive innovation and efficiency.
By providing robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure alongside cutting-edge AI solutions, we are hoping to support Japanese developers and businesses to not just adopt AI, but to lead in the agentic AI era.”. This is Alibaba’s second data center launch this week alone.
The company announced a new cloud region in France based on two data centers in Paris, and earlier this month, the company added a new two-availability-zone region in Johor, Malaysia, its second in the country.. The company has been undertaking a major global expansion initiative over the last year..
