This month, the firm revealed plans to utilize Starlink’s specialized service, coupled with bonded gateways, to provide steadfast and dependable connectivity to numerous clients in various significant community centers, such as Bethel, Sitka, Kotzebue, and Dillingham. “We’ve always maintained that it requires all the resources in our arsenal to cater to a state like Alaska,” remarked Billy Wailand, SVP of corporate development at GCI. “By integrating Starlink’s top-tier bonded gateway features, which are fueled by low-Earth orbit satellites, we are incorporating a beneficial additional element of reliability that aligns with our current fiber, microwave, and satellite setup. This pact fortifies our capacity to maintain Alaska’s connectivity during crucial times.
