APAC data center firm ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) is expanding its campus in Jakarta, Indonesia.. The company this week announced the launch of STT Jakarta 2, the topping out of STT Jakarta 3, and the groundbreaking of STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6.. – STT GDC. Together, these projects represent more than 100MW of capacity within a campus that could reach more than 360MW at full build-out.. Bruno Lopez, president and group CEO, STT GDC, said: “Indonesia is one of Southeast Asia’s most important digital infrastructure markets, driven by accelerating demand for cloud and AI. This expansion reflects our conviction in this country’s long-term growth and our commitment to delivering the scale, resilience and readiness required to support Indonesia’s next phase of digital development.”. Located within the Greenland International Industrial Centre (GIIC) in Bekasi, Jawa Barat, STT Jakarta 2 offers 24MW of IT load capacity. The company broke ground on the project in September 2024.. STT Jakarta 3 is expected to add 24MW upon completion. The company broke ground on the facility in April 2025. It is due to launch before the end of the year.. Due live by the end of 2027, STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6 are each planned to support 40MW of IT load.. STT GDC said the expansion is supported by an on‑site high‑voltage substation, reportedly the first to be energized for a data center campus in Indonesia.. The campus will be able to support high-density workloads, with data halls engineered to host Nvidia’s Vera Rubin and Vera Rubin Ultra GPU systems.. Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, country head, STT GDC Indonesia, added: “Indonesia is entering a new phase of digital growth where infrastructure readiness will become increasingly important in supporting AI adoption, cloud expansion, and enterprise transformation. The continued expansion of our Jakarta data center campus underscores our long-term commitment to meeting these evolving needs with scalable, high-density capacity that supports both current and next-generation workloads, backed by secured high‑voltage power on‑site and carbon‑neutral operations from day one.”. Plans for the Bekasi campus were first announced in May 2021. The campus is being developed under a joint venture with leading Indonesian conglomerate Triputra Group and global investment company Temasek (which previously owned STT GDC).. The STT Jakarta 1 facility has been operational since June 2023, with a design IT capacity of 18MW.. The company previously said it planned to develop a four-building campus totaling 90MW. It now lists plans for up to nine buildings and some 360MW. Jakarta 7, 8, and 9 are all set to offer 60MW, though timelines for development have not been shared.. Other operators in the Jakarta region include NTT, DigitalEdge, Princeton Digital Group, EdgeConneX, Equinix, AWS, Datahall, and DCI Indonesia.. Earlier this month, STT GDC announced the expansion of its existing Indonesia financing to fund the continued development of the STT Jakarta data center campus.. The upsized dual-currency facility of IDR 8.8 trillion (approximately $500 million) includes a maiden green term loan tranche, the company’s first green financing in Indonesia.. Founded in 2014, STT GDC is a data center provider with more than 95 sites across 12 geographies and points of presence in 20 markets. The company currently has a total combined capacity of 1.7GW of IT load and 2.3GW of potential capacity.. The company operates in Singapore, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea. In Europe, it operates in the UK, Italy, and Germany through Virtus Data Centres. It previously offered services in mainland China through GDS, in which STT has a stake..
