Microsoft acquires 37 acres in Licking County, Ohio

Microsoft has added an additional 22026 acres of property in Licking County, Ohio to its portfolio. The land, situated in Pataskala, was procured for approximately $6.65 million, as stated by Columbus Business First. You can locate the land using Google Maps.

Microsoft’s property holdings in Licking County have exceeded 700 acres due to a recent acquisition. In November 2023, it is alleged that the company purchased 289 acres along Refugee Road in Pataskala. They then acquired an additional 40 acres in December 2024, but it was not specified if this was for a data center project.

The acquisition of new land includes parcels situated on Refugee Road. Microsoft had temporarily halted its data center initiatives in the vicinity. In April of 2013, the company announced that it had decided not to proceed with its plans to invest $1 billion in building three data center campuses in New Albany, Heath, and Hebron, Ohio.

The organization stated that it will keep on examining these locations based on our investment plan and will revisit the project at an unspecified point in the future. That unspecified time arrived earlier this year in March, as reported by WCMH Columbus, when the cloud and tech giant began construction on the Heath and Hebron sites.

Microsoft had bought 227 acres on Thornwood Drive in Heath and 223 acres on High Street in Hebron. As per Microsoft’s project update pages, the Heath site began construction work on safety, water management, and site preparations for future buildings in July 2026. Simultaneously, the substation construction was about to commence.

The Hebron campus was at a comparable stage of development in July. Meanwhile, the New Albany site was nearing completion of the construction activities carried out by Ames Construction. The firm stated that “Some building operations might go on during the summer since the remaining tasks are being finished, and future growth stages are being organized.

In the future, Microsoft will remain the main source for addressing community inquiries and delivering information.
