Sponsored: GF completes LiquidCore portfolio with intelligent Multi Control Valve to maximize direct liquid cooling efficiency

GF is enlarging its data center liquid cooling infrastructure selection by launching the Multi Control Valve, a one-stop polymer flow enhancement solution designed to provide dynamic hydraulic balancing, incorporated sensing, and thermal energy measurement for high-density direct liquid cooling (DLC) structures. Weighing up to 53% lighter and 50% more compact than traditional metal assemblies, this smart valve merges effortlessly into GF’s LiquidCore system to adjust cooling capacity and enhance pressure drop without adding deployment intricacy.

It operates as the active intelligence layer, managing dynamic AI workloads while reducing infrastructure pressure loss and system weight by up to 85%. With single-phase direct-to-chip liquid cooling (D2C) becoming the standard for next-generation racks with power densities over 100kW, the focus has moved from just transporting coolant to optimizing the entire system.

To achieve peak efficiency under varying AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, it is necessary to transition from static flow networks to actively adjusting circuitry. To enhance loop performance, GF has incorporated the Multi Control Valve into its Technology Cooling System (TCS) framework.

This innovative valve simplifies intricate multi-component instrumentation loops by combining a linear flow valve, a quick-acting electronic actuator with a 5-second fail-safe mechanism, and five built-in sensors, including volumetric flow, pressure (2×), and temperature (2×). The device utilizes cutting-edge ultrasonic flow measurement and monolithic ceramic pressure sensors to instantly compute differential pressure (ΔP), temperature variance (ΔT), and overall thermal energy distribution.

By employing a centralized structure, this system offers full transparency and eradicates the need for physical devices, thus reducing space requirements, installation efforts, and potential security breaches. The LiquidCore solution, provided by GF, is a single-source direct-to-chip option that is supported by customized design, engineering, and pre-fabrication processes conducted off-site.

The hardware collection features strong PP-H distribution systems, individually tailored in-rack connectors (PVDF), heat-resistant valve and control components, the innovative Multi Control Valve with intelligence, and the secure Quick Connect Valve 700. Operational dependability is ensured by utilizing sophisticated infrared (IR) and electrofusion jointing methods.

Crafted from top-quality, rust-resistant Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) and advanced engineered polymers, the valve body avoids the internal scaling, fluid impurities, and substantial weight typical of stainless steel variants. The new design is 70% lighter, reducing the mechanical load and structural stress on plastic rack manifolds and distribution piping networks.

It features a single-cable layout, dust and water-tight housing with IP68 rating, flexible connections, and optional extras. It also has standard data bus communication interfaces, making it easy to integrate into server environments and building management systems. GF is an OCP Solution Provider in the Open Compute Project Community.
