Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 on Wednesday, adding new audio and health software features while keeping hardware changes limited.. The new watches include “Audio Intelligence” tools led by Live Rewind, which lets users pull up a text snippet of the previous 15 seconds of a conversation by double pressing the Digital Crown..
Users can ask Siri about the content of that transcript or save it to the new Siri app for later reference.. Apple also introduced Siri Recap, which uses ambient listening to generate high-level notes from conversations. When the feature is turned on, Apple Intelligence creates a title and key points in the Siri app after a conversation..
A new Sound Recognition feature can listen for sirens, alarms, doorbells and a baby crying for users who are hard of hearing.. Apple said the audio intelligence features do not create or store audio recordings.. Both watches include a revised health-sensing system with increased electrode surface area for better skin contact during ECG readings.
Apple also redesigned the photodiodes in a ring layout to improve optical sensing and added more power-efficient green LEDs for heart-rate measurements during motion.. The health system now takes background heart-rate readings every five seconds throughout the day. Apple said that is 60 times more frequent than before..
The watches also add readiness scores that analyze recent activity, vitals and sleep each morning to produce a single daily preparedness score.. Apple introduced a Health Age feature that compares key health metrics with a user’s actual age using watch data, including VO2 max and sleep..
The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399, while the Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at $499.. Featured image credit. Tags: Apple WatchFeatured
