Former printworks in northern France could be turned into data center

A former printing facility located south of Paris, France, may be transformed into a data center. The 65,000-square-meter (700,000 sq ft) factory in Malesherbes, Loiret, has been acquired by German industrial property firm Garbe from printer Maury Imprimeur for approximately €3 million ($3.4 million).

Although part of the site may serve as a logistics hub, it is also planned to accommodate a data center. A data center could be coming to Malesherbois – Chabe01/Wikimedia Commons. It has been empty since last year, after Maury Imprimeur scaled down its operations and relocated all staff to another site in nearby Manchecourt.

Malesherbois is located in northern France, to the south of Paris. According to law firm Osborne Clarke, which advised Maury Imprimeur on the sale, the site will be comprehensively modernised and repositioned for logistics use. The aim is to create a sustainable asset that meets high environmental standards, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, space optimisation, and minimising its overall environmental impact.

According to a report in La Republique du Centre, the data center project hinges on utility company Enedis approving a grid connection for the site. This proposal is reportedly under review by the energy company. The data center’s target IT capacity and opening date have not been disclosed.

Like many other nations, France is currently undertaking a large-scale digital infrastructure expansion to accommodate the needs of AI firms. Brownfield industrial sites around the country are being converted into data centers. Garbe is building data centers across Europe, including a 350 MW facility in Denmark. (06 Jan 2026)
