SkyVolt signs LOI with Nodiac to deploy modular data centers at renewable sites across North America

US renewable developer SkyVolt Energy has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with modular data center developer Nodiac Group to power the latter’s installations across North America.. – Getty Images. According to the companies, the LOI will provide a framework to utilize SkyVolt’s portfolio of wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development sites across North America and explore their deployment with distributed compute infrastructure onsite..

Under the terms of the agreement, SkyVolt will share information about its portfolio of wind, solar, and BESS sites with Nodiac for screening and assessment. Definitive agreements are expected to be negotiated on a site-by-site basis.. “This marks another step in our shift toward power-to-load development – moving beyond raw megawatts to higher-value projects,” said Alexandre Alonso Carpintero, CEO of SkyVolt Energy.

“Our planned transaction with Nodiac reflects our conviction that the digital economy must be built on a clean energy foundation. By co-locating data center infrastructure directly at our renewable development sites, we are not only accelerating speed to power for the AI industry – we are helping ensure that the infrastructure powering tomorrow’s economy is sustainable, distributed, and resilient.”.

Robert Sher, CEO of Nodiac, added: “SkyVolt has built an impressive development pipeline of renewable energy assets across North America, and we see tremendous potential to unlock new value from that infrastructure. By co-locating modular data centers at their wind, solar, and BESS sites, we can deliver speed-to-power for the AI industry while generating meaningful new revenue streams for SkyVolt’s existing development pipeline assets.”.

Denver-headquartered Nodiac is a developer of containerized data centers ranging from 1MW to 15MW, designed to be deployed alongside existing energy infrastructure. The company claims that the approach seeks to reduce time-to-power by avoiding delays associated with grid interconnection and transmission upgrades.

In April, the company signed an LOI with Canadian renewable energy developer PowerBank under a similar agreement to deploy compute infrastructure at PowerBank’s renewable sites across North America.. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, SkyVolt has approximately 2GW of renewable energy projects in its pipeline..
