Blockchain and crypto firm Blockmate Ventures enters neocloud market with purchase of Nvidia B200 cluster

Blockmate Ventures, a blockchain-focused firm, plans to venture into the neocloud industry, partnering with Scannit to buy eight Nvidia B200 GPUs. In this agreement, Blockmate will possess the hardware, while Scannit will manage and market the computing power from an unidentified data center in the United States.

Nvidia Blackwell – Nvidia. Blockmate affirmed that the cost of acquiring the GPUs was $635,000, encompassing transportation, data center configuration, installation, networking, and incorporation. The purchase will be financed using both Blockmate’s current cash funds and borrowed money, and the blockchain business will be given most of the total earnings produced by the group.

The shipment of the graphics processing units is planned for Q173 2027, pending the vendor’s schedule and Nvidia’s distribution. After the hardware is delivered, it will be installed, tested, and ready for commercial clients in approximately one week. Blockmate announced that, depending on the success of this new approach, they will consider further implementations, including bigger clusters and upcoming Nvidia hardware releases.

This marks Blockmate’s initial foray into the AI neocloud industry. “We will possess the Nvidia hardware, while Scannit offers the specific infrastructure, operations, and customer connections needed to maintain that computation,” said Domenic Carosa, founder and chairman of Blockmate. “We are intentionally beginning with a single node.” The goal is to launch it, create income, and gather genuine operational information concerning usage, pricing, and expenses. Given the current state of economics, we estimate that the initial capital put into the node can be regained within about two years.

However, the actual outcome will be influenced by factors such as usage, market rates, and running expenses.” Established in 2010 under the name Midpoint Holdings, Blockmate, a blockchain firm, underwent a rebranding in 2022, concentrating on AI, Bitcoin, and digital infrastructure.
