Unnamed data center developer eyeing former Crystal Geyser bottling site in Mount Shasta, California

An unnamed developer is considering whether to apply for permission to build a data center on a former Crystal Geyser site in Mount Shasta, California.. Crystal Geyser is a bottled water company. It previously attempted to open a bottling facility located at 210 Ski Village Drive.

It bought the property back in 2013, but environmental concerns led the company to give up on opening the facility by 2021.. – Google Maps. City Manager Todd Juhasz told ABC7 that they were “contacted by an entity” that wanted to use the former Crystal Geyser site to build a data center and that the city would meet with them “later in the week.”.

“But unless there’s some magical thing they do, [that] the other data centers don’t, I can’t imagine this would be good for the community.”. City Council Member Tessa Clure said on Facebook that the party had “expressed interest in purchasing the property,” but added that there were “other offers on the table that are more appealing (to the environment, the community, and the seller) but the details are limited.”.

A petition opposing the facility, titled ‘Stop the potential of data center project at the Crystal Geyser plant in Mount Shasta, CA,’ has received more than 7,500 signatures.. Mount Shasta shares a name with the mountain that overlooks the town. It is located in northern California, and is not a data center hub..
