A logistics technology company is set to build a small quantum-focused communications facility outside Chattanooga, Tennessee.. The Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority this week announced that BridgTRK has purchased four acres in the Peerless community of Rossville to build a node linking BridgTRK users to the quantum computing capabilities of EPB’s network.. – BridgTRK | Walker County.
Rossville is a city in Walker County and part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area, but located just over the state border into Georgia.. The planned development is located at 2 Bull Dog Drive. According to information shared by the county, BridgTRK’s project will feature two shipping containers with a connecting canopy, totaling 1,120 sq ft (104 sqm) and up to 2MW of capacity.
The site will serve the company’s own communication and network needs to serve its customers.. BridgTRK had been in discussions about buying the land since February, and the property sale closed earlier this month. Timelines for development have not been shared..
The multi-million-dollar project is described as a compact access node — a small connection point linking BridgTRK users to EPB’s quantum computing resources in neighboring Chattanooga. It will reportedly deliver advanced encryption and data protection powered by local fiber firm EPB’s quantum network..
“It requires no water and runs on standard power, placing minimal demand on local infrastructure while serving as one of the region’s first commercial gateways to quantum computing,” the development authority said. “This is not a sprawling server farm; it is a lean facility built for connectivity, not scale.”.
Walker County said that Rossville can “position itself as a destination for Industrial IoT, analytics, logistics and healthcare computing. “. The news comes, however, as Walker County this week voted for a 30-day moratorium on data centers.
The county will vote in August whether to extend the ban for another 180 days. County officials recently clarified this only applied to unincorporated land, and therefore would not impact the Rossville development.. Rossville Mayor Jonathan Lassetter told local press the city was not informed that the county’s sale of the land, located near the old Peerless Mill, had been finalized until after the deal had closed.
He added that the project will likely require zoning approval from the city before it could move forward. Rossville had previously sought to acquire the site for use as a fire department training facility but had been denied by the county.. Launched in 2023, EPB’s quantum network is designed for running quantum equipment and applications in an established fiber optic environment.
