Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Dave Brown is reportedly heading to Meta.. According to the Wall Street Journal, Brown will report to Meta’s head of infrastructure and focus on the company’s data center buildout. That Brown was leaving AWS was confirmed earlier this week by the company in a letter to Amazon employees penned by CEO Matt Garman, in which he acknowledged Brown’s 19-year tenure at AWS.. The note did not disclose Brown’s future plans beyond that he had decided to take “a new role outside of the company.”.
Brown said of his departure: “Looking back over the last 19 years, I can’t imagine having spent them anywhere else. From my early days as a developer working on EC2 – not really understanding what it would become – to having the opportunity to work alongside so many incredibly talented people building technology that millions of customers around the world rely on every day, it has been an extraordinary journey.
What we have achieved together, and continue to achieve, is truly remarkable.”. With Brown’s exit, AWS has appointed Dave Treadwell, current SVP of e-commerce foundation at AWS, as the new lead of the AWS compute and ML services team..
