The $40bn acquisition of Aligned Data Centers has closed.. The purchase, by a consortium comprising the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP), BlackRock’s Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), and Abu Dhabi-based MGX, was successfully completed this week.. The closure follows initial reports in October 2025 of a potential sale, which was confirmed the same month.. The consortium acquiring Aligned comprises the AIP, which aims to mobilize $30bn of equity with the potential to reach $100bn (including debt), BlackRock’s GIP, an infrastructure investor with more than $200bn in assets under management, and MGX, an Abu Dhabi-based investor owned by the Emirates..
