Amazon brings short news clips to Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video said on Monday it is adding on-demand short-form news clips with local and national stories, expanding its news offering on the streaming service.. The clips will be available on TVs and other living room devices first, and will later roll out on the web and Prime Video’s mobile apps..

Users will find the clips in the News section of the Prime Video app, inside the Trending Topics and Local News carousels.. The new format will sit alongside Prime Video’s existing local, national and world news coverage from major providers. Amazon said that news programming is available to all U.S. users, whether or not they have a Prime subscription..

Amazon did not confirm whether the clips on mobile devices will use a vertical video format. The company said only that the new offering will consist of short-form content.. Prime Video joins other streaming services that have introduced short-form clips.

Peacock added support for the format in March, followed by HBO Max and Netflix in July, and Disney+ in August.. Featured image credit. Tags: amazonprime video
