Google Photos rolls out Redact tool to blur sensitive image details

Google has added a new Redact tool to Google Photos that lets users blur sensitive information in images as part of an updated Markup feature on Android.. The new Markup tools are rolling out to all Google Photos users on Android worldwide and also include new fonts and thickness sliders for pens and highlighters..

Redact lets users censor details in photos by turning selected areas into a pixelated block. Google said the tool can be used for information such as a vehicle license plate number.. Google also said its Wardrobe feature is expanding to more users.

The feature is set to reach Android and iOS users in the United States, India and Brazil who do not already have access.. Wardrobe lets users create a catalog of clothes and jewelry from images stored in their photo library for styling ideas.. Google said it has also updated Photos within Gemini Spark for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States.

The feature allows users to find and edit images with a single prompt.. Android users will also get a Moods feature that applies vintage-inspired filters to photos.. On Android and iOS in select countries, Google is adding 15 new Remix templates that can use a user’s likeness to create red carpet images and photo booth shots..
