Blizzard announces open-world StarCraft shooter

Blizzard announced a new StarCraft game at BlizzCon 2026, describing it as a story-driven open-world shooter scheduled for release in spring 2030.. The game is titled simply “StarCraft,” and Blizzard unveiled it with a cinematic trailer. The announcement marks the first new StarCraft release in nearly a decade after the 2017 remaster of the original game, and comes 16 years after the release of StarCraft 2..

Blizzard said of the new title, “it’s about damn time.” Talk of a StarCraft shooter has circulated for years, with several projects reportedly failing in development. The latest public discussion of one such project came in 2024.. Blizzard also confirmed that StarCraft 3 is in development.

“From the farthest reaches of the stars, a new mission calls,” the company said.. Featured image credit. Tags: BlizzardStarCraft
