Tesla sets October 1 reveal for new Roadster

Tesla said its second-generation Roadster will debut on October 1, setting a new date for a vehicle that has been delayed repeatedly since its prototype reveal in 2017.. The company announced the date in a post on X and has added a countdown to the Roadster reveal on its website. The Information reported in August that Tesla would launch the Roadster soon and said the vehicle would have the ability to fly..

Tesla’s website teases the reveal with an image that appears to hint at cold-gas thrusters tied to the SpaceX model previously discussed by the company.. When Tesla first unveiled the Roadster prototype in 2017, it said the updated electric sports car would accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds..

Tesla also said at the time that the car would have a top speed of more than 250 mph and a range of more than 600 miles. The base model was priced at $200,000 in 2017, while a Founder’s Edition variant was listed at $250,000.. Some early reservation holders who had placed $50,000 preorders have since canceled, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee..
