AWS injects AT&T into Interconnect connection cadre

The text you provided is already very short and doesn’t require paraphrasing. It simply mentions ‘Getty Images’, which is a well-known stock photography agency. Amazon Web Services (AWS) has incorporated AT&T’s network coverage into its managed AWS Interconnect service.

The integration connects AT&T’s network to AWS’ Interconnect service, which facilitates the linking of branch offices, data centers, and remote locations with the AWS cloud. By using this feature, you can easily set up fast, private connections to AWS, and it will generate an activation key from AWS once the link is established.

AWS Interconnect service helps in simplifying the process of pre-provisioning capacity and automating network setup, such as BGP peering, vLAN configuration, and ASN allocation. The text is also supported by a service level agreement (SLA). The integration is currently in a “gated preview” phase for US customers.

AWS first introduced its Interconnect last mile service during the re:Invent event held by the hyperscaler last year. AT&T has become the latest company to join the list of AWS Interconnect connectors, following the recent inclusion of Lumen Technologies. AWS and AT&T are speeding up connectivity efforts.

The integration enhances the ongoing collaboration between AWS and AT&T. This year, they formed a partnership to connect more of AT&T’s internal systems to AWS and provide access to Amazon’s Leo satellite services. In return, AWS utilized AT&T’s growing fiber network to enhance cloud connectivity.

This comprehensive agreement involves AT&T transferring workloads from various existing on-premises systems to a managed-cloud version of AWS Outposts hosted on-premises. AT&T is planning to migrate its business support systems to AWS using AWS’ Professional Services, Amazon Q Developer, and AWS Agentic Services.

This move will enhance AT&T’s resilience by improving infrastructure management and accelerating the modernization of its business support systems. The belief is strengthened by AWS utilizing AT&T’s extensive fiber network to connect their data center sites.
