Google increases 2026 capex to $195-205bn as it accelerates AI data center buildout

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has increased its expected annual capital expenditure by $15 billion.. The company said it now expects to spend between $195 and $205bn, up from its last-quarter prediction of $180-190bn. The company’s capex hit $91.45bn last year, up on $52.5bn the year before.. – Sebastian Moss. “We have increased our capacity quite significantly over the past three years.

The demand still outpaces that investment,” CFO Anat Ashkenazi said on an earnings call.. The company reported 2026 second-quarter earnings of $119.8 billion, up 24 percent over the prior quarter. Google Cloud reported $24.8bn in revenue, a new record for the cloud division and up 82 percent over last year..

Google said that it had also begun to recognize revenue from standalone sales of its AI chip family, the TPU.. Despite the revenue growth, shares in Alphabet fell three percent in after-hours trading due to concerns over the increasing costs of AI data center development.. More in Cloud & Hyperscale.
