Three men caught stealing copper wire from data center construction site in Loudoun County, Virginia

Three men have been caught stealing copper wire from a data center construction site in Loudoun County, Virginia.. Reports that there was a burglary happening at a construction site near 45000 Maries Road in the Sterling area were made just before 12:30am on July 31, according to a report by WJLA..

Jhamal Micah Kalil Muskelly, 21, Demetrius Shaun Charlton, 23, and Cordell Lamar Carter, 18, were arrested on August 1 after local authorities pulled over a U-Haul for a traffic stop and found around $100,000 worth of copper wire in the trunk..

Both Muskelly and Charlton were on parole at time of their arrest, according to a report by Loudoun Now.. All three were each charged with grand larceny.. Local law enforcement has not identified which data center construction site the trio were trying to steal from.

But data center firm EdgeCore is currently constructing a 72MW campus called AS01 located on 45831 Maries Road, approximately half a mile down the road from the address the three were sighted at.. DCD has reached out to EdgeCore for confirmation.. Copper theft is common.
