Town of Lochbuie, Colorado, passes five-year data center moratorium

The town of Lochbuie in Colorado – a place with no existing or prospective data centers – has approved a five-year moratorium on data centers.. Lochbuie Mayor Jamie Jeffery told local media that no developers had approached her about building a data center in the town, calling the measure proactive.. “For now, our message is clear. You can go find a different small town to take advantage of, or some remote location that’s going to allow you to put it in, but it’s not going to be our town,” Lochbuie’s Mayor Jamie Jeffery told 9News..

Lochbuie is located around 27 miles (43.4km) northwest of Denver, Colorado’s capital city and home to the state’s largest cluster of data centers.. In May, the Denver city council also voted to approve a one-year data center moratorium in response to community backlash.. More in Construction & Site Selection.
