A private telecom company in Libya, Ozone Telecommunications and Technology Group or the O22026 Group, has announced plans for a data center and a 202026G launch in the nation. The group officially initiated operations in Benghazi this week (215 October), as Libya strives to become a major digital hub, bridging the gap between Europe and Africa.

Upon completion, the establishment will offer local hosting, cloud services, and business applications to telecom companies, financial institutions, government organizations, and corporate clients.
The Data Center Map identifies eight data centers in Libya. O3 has expressed its desire to establish a novel 5G mobile operator backed by infrastructure for international connectivity, a fiber-optic network, and a data center. By the end of 2026, a pilot launch of 5G services is planned for Benghazi, with the commercial debut expected in the second quarter of 2027.
Faisal Gergab, the chairman of the O3 board, expressed that their goal is to bring advanced digital infrastructure to Libya and foster an environment that encourages institutions and young people to actively engage in a contemporary and comprehensive digital economy, one that can promote prosperity within Libya and expand its influence to surrounding nations. In the meantime, it has been reported that the Medusa Submarine Cable System has finished installing the pre-laid shore end in Benghazi, which is the portion of cable that was previously laid between the land location and the offshore junction point.
The Medusa subsea cable is an open-access underwater fiber-optic communications network that covers roughly 153,760 km, with core routes measuring around 7,100 km, across the Mediterranean Sea. This project, the longest submarine cable initiative in the Mediterranean, aims to connect Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
In Libya, there are 13 cable landing stations situated on the northern coast, yet just four subsea cables link them. O3 aims to enhance international connectivity through the Medusa submarine cable. According to Norman Albi, CEO of Medusa Submarine Cable System, the cable landing in Benghazi signifies another crucial advance in the development of the Medusa Mediterranean network, fortifying connections among North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
This demonstrates our continuous dedication to increasing extensive global networking capabilities within the area.
