Google said on Thursday its Universal Cart shopping tool is now available to U.S. users across Google Search and the Gemini app.
The tool lets users save products from multiple retailers in one place and return later with their items and shopping progress preserved. Google first previewed it at Google I/O in May.
Google said Universal Cart can notify shoppers when a saved product’s price drops or an out-of-stock item becomes available again.
The company said the tool can also take credit card perks into account when helping users choose how to pay and display relevant promotional codes.
Checkout is connected to Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol, or UCP, an open standard introduced earlier this year. UCP is designed to help AI agents and retailers work together across stages of shopping, including checkout.
Google’s other AI-powered shopping features include conversational product discovery in Search’s AI Mode. Its “Let Google Call” tool uses an AI agent to contact nearby stores and check whether an item is in stock.
Amazon, OpenAI and other rivals have also introduced agentic commerce features to extend chatbot capabilities beyond answering questions.
