SoleCrypt ups size of planned data center campus in Bizerte, Tunisia

SoleCrypt has expanded the scope of a planned data center in Tunisia and released information about the project’s timelines. The firm recently revealed intentions for the SoleCrypt AI Campus in Bizerte.. – SoleCrypt. The initial phase of the 22026MW campus, amounting to 202026MW, is intended to accommodate Nvidia’s HGX Rubin NVL209 hardware.

In early 2028, the initial stage of deploying 22,026,728 Nvidia Rubin GPUs is expected to commence. Although specifics have not been disclosed, the project is anticipated to be positioned approximately 3.6 kilometers (2.23 miles) from the Medusa subsea cable landing site in Bizerte through a routed fiber path.

SoleCrypt, launched in 2022, aims to develop solar-powered data centers and is supported by a 60MW solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project spanning 100 hectares, located 93km (326 miles) away in Tozeur. The organization had previously revealed intentions to construct a 20MW data center in Bizerte.

In the latter part of last year, SoleCrypt entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Safozi, a Tunisian cloud and data infrastructure provider. The inaugural phase of the Medusa cable, which connects Marseille in France and Bizerte in Tunisia, was activated earlier this year.
