Ecoblox, a provider of modular data centers, has collaborated with Croatian electric vehicle manufacturer Rimac to create and supply a modular data center solution. – Ecoblox. Under a Joint Development Agreement, Rimac Technology and Ecoblox have joined forces to combine Rimac’s battery and power electronics with Ecoblox’s AI infrastructure, MDC architecture, design, and hardware/software system integration.
This collaboration aims to provide a high-density modular data center solution. The integration of Rimac’s UNI battery modules is anticipated to provide extended continuous backup power for vital computing hardware. The integration involves Rimac’s battery management system, enabling Ecoblox to have real-time monitoring and control over the modular unit.
Rimac’s UNI battery modules can be utilized in various sectors such as automotive, energy storage, marine, off-highway, commercial, and industrial applications. This deployment marks their initial usage in data center infrastructure. The initial modular data center is anticipated to be finished in November and will be located at the Rimac campus in Kerestinec, Croatia.
Doug Makishima, CEO at Ecoblox, stated, “Collaborating with Rimac Technology enables us to reshape high-density power delivery for the upcoming generation of AI compute.” By incorporating automotive-level energy storage and power electronics into our modular data center design, we are eliminating grid limitations and permitting cloud service providers and business consumers to establish scalable, power-robust AI groups more rapidly and effectively than previously imaginable. Nurdin Pitarevic, Rimac Technology’s CEO, commented: “Our battery and power electronics technologies have been refined and commercialized to fulfill the rigorous needs of the automotive sector.” The relevance of these capabilities is growing in high-power AI infrastructure, where factors such as power density, thermal management, safety, and reliability hold significant importance.
In collaboration with Ecoblox, we are utilizing these technologies in a novel high-power application, introducing automotive-standard technology to AI data centers.
