Meta launches an open-weight AI model built for Macs

Meta has introduced Muse Spark Open, an AI model that is optimized for Macs and is regarded by the company as the “most capable” open-weight model in the US. This model boasts 816 billion parameters and a context window of 1 million tokens. On Thursday, Meta announced that its evaluation results show it excels compared to other well-known open-weight models.

Muse Spark Open, being inherently multimodal, was designed specifically for intricate coding tasks and to facilitate flexible workflows. Meta is providing access to it instantly via various API platforms. The model can operate on Apple computers, but it necessitates at least 1 terabyte of RAM, as reported by Engadget.

It operates optimally on a Mac Studio that has the M5 Ultra chip. Meta combined the model with Muse Code, its AI coding station, for multiple agentic processes. Using a Mastodon client in a coding workflow, the model performed bug fixes, implemented new features, and completed a complete build.

The company has mentioned that the model was successfully deployed with DaVinci Resolve, a video editing software, enabling it to evaluate and trim video clips. Image credit: featured image. Keywords: muse spark
