Meta to deploy custom AMD Instinct MI450-based GPU, is ‘lead customer’ for Venice Epyc CPU

Meta plans to deploy a custom version of the new AMD Instinct MI450 GPU, although specific changes were not shared.. “We are going to deploy it across the board,” Meta head of infrastructure Santosh Janardhan said, noting that the two companies co-designed the rollout of the hardware, including servers, power, and cooling.. The company also plans to deploy AMD’s latest Venice CPUs, with the company named the chip family’s ‘lead customer.’ In the future, Meta plans to deploy Verano and other upcoming generations of Epyc..
