In his new role, Potter will lead the first origination and development of gigawatt-scale energy and infrastructure projects to power Crusoe’s growing data center portfolio..

Writing on LinkedIn, Potter said: “I’ll also help lead the development and deployment of Crusoe Spark, Crusoe’s modular AI factory, which scales from a few megawatts to hundreds, rapidly deploying compute to where power already exists and enabling AI infrastructure to be built alongside the next generation of clean energy technologies.”. Potter joins the company from Orca East, a consulting firm that specializes in the supply chain, aviation, and maritime sectors, where he held the position of chief of staff.

Potter also founded his own consulting firm, PCG, which he headed for three years.. Launched in 2018 as a cryptomining business, Crusoe has pivoted to developing data centers offering AI cloud services and divested its crypto operations.. Crusoe has plans for a 1.8GW campus in Wyoming, a 1.4GW site in Texas, two sites in Missouri, and natural gas-powered data centers in Alberta, Canada.

It recently backed off from a project in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and was recently named as a potential partner for a project in Nebraska.. It has signed several major energy deals over recent months, including a deal with small modular reactor firm Aalo Atomics to deploy what could be the world’s first SMR-powered AI data center.

Also in the last month, it signed a 5GW deal with ON.Energy to deploy its AI UPS technology across multiple hyperscale data center campuses.. More in Workforce & Skills. 09 Jul 2026.
