PLDT’s Vitro REIT signs SG.GS as colocation customer in the Philippines

Philippine telecommunications firm PLDT Group subsidiaries Vitro REIT and PLDT Global have signed a colocation deal with Singaporean telco carrier SG.GS Pte. to expand network interconnection across the Philippines and support greater regional connectivity across the APAC region.. – Vitro. Under the terms of the deal, SG.GS will deploy networking systems across Vitro’s carrier-neutral facilities.

The companies claim that this will facilitate better interconnection with carriers, cloud providers, Internet service providers, and enterprises in the Philippines.. “We welcome SG.GS to the Vitro ecosystem. By colocating within our carrier-neutral facilities, they gain direct access to a rich interconnection landscape – spanning global carriers, cloud providers, ISPs, and Philippine enterprises – that strengthens the Philippines’ position as a high-performance transit hub in Asia-Pacific,” Vitro assistant vice-president and sales group head Davis Yolangco said..

For Vitro, the deal is expected to significantly expand its interconnection options for organizations operating in the Southeast Asian country. According to the companies, SG.GS has more than 200 points of presence across more than 30 markets and connectivity to more than 30 subsea cable systems..

As a result, PLDT claimed that the partnership would improve latency, strengthen redundancy, and create additional pathways for cloud, content, and enterprise workloads.. “At PLDT Global, we see connectivity as a key enabler of economic growth and digital transformation. Our collaboration with Vitro and SG.GS demonstrates how strategic infrastructure partnerships can strengthen the Philippines’ position as a regional digital gateway – bringing together global networks, cloud platforms, and enterprises through resilient, scalable, and world-class connectivity,” PLDT global COO Edith Gomez-Cudiamat said..

SG.GS was established in 2000 and has headquarters in Singapore and London. It is a global wholesale telco carrier that provides custom network, cloud connectivity, and internet infrastructure solutions.. PLDT formed Vitro REIT earlier this year.

REITs are companies that own, and often operate, income-producing real estate such as data centers. They act as a fund for investors, generating revenue via leasing space and collecting rent on their properties. According to reporting at the time, Vitro’s will total 24MW of capacity across its Tier II and III quality data centers, located across the Philippines..

Vitro was established as a subsidiary of ePLDT in 2000, which in turn is the ICT subsidiary of PLDT. As well as Santa Rosa, the company has ten other operational data centers with a combined IT capacity of 63MW, with cable landing stations in Deat, Digos, La Union, and Batangas..
