Apple on Tuesday unveiled its Apple Home Collection, a lineup of smart home locks, doorbells, temperature controls and security cameras scheduled to become available in December.
The devices are designed to work with HomeView, Apple’s new smart home hub for controlling connected accessories and interacting with its software.
Apple said it built the devices in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
The $349.95 smart deadbolt lock supports ultra-wideband technology, which enables more precise proximity detection than traditional Bluetooth. This could allow the lock to detect an approaching authorized user and automatically unlock the door without requiring a phone or physical key.
The $249.95 wired video doorbell lets homeowners view and monitor visitors and receive notifications when someone approaches their property. When rung, it plays a chime through Apple devices including HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini, with notifications also sent to an iPhone or iPad.
The collection includes a thermostat and a temperature sensor. The sensor provides data on conditions in individual rooms so users can identify temperature differences and make adjustments.
The security camera lineup includes indoor and outdoor models and a $399.95 floodlight camera that combines exterior lighting with video monitoring. Camera features include live viewing, motion detection, intelligent alerts and video storage.
