ZTE unveils data center module designed for AI workloads

ZTE, a Chinese technology firm, has introduced an integrated data center module specifically designed for AI tasks. This new product, named the ZXEDC M202026 Intelligent Computing Micro-Module, was revealed at Data Center World Asia. According to the firm, the M22026 is a comprehensive unit that includes a sealed cold aisle, liquid-cooled racks, network racks, a coldplate liquid-cooling CDU, secondary-side piping, high-voltage DC power, intelligent busbars, air walls, monitoring, lighting, cabling, and fire linkage.

In addition, the module is capable of accommodating both conventional and AI-assisted deployment strategies. ZTE revealed that the power supply in the module will vary between 208kW and 22026kW, with a maximum of 250kW per rack. The frame and racks are separated, allowing operators to transform the cooling system from air to liquid on-site without needing to reinstall the entire setup.

ZTE asserts that its cooling design incorporates a common air-and-liquid resource, permitting operators to modify the proportion between the two. The company maintains that the system can achieve a PUE as low as 1.15 across all areas by utilizing free cooling. Moreover, the 800V HVDC system, integrated with intelligent busbars for in-row power distribution, boasts up to 98 percent power supply efficiency.

According to ZTE, the M8000 is the first liquid cooling solution to attain UL system-level leak-proof certification. ZTE asserts that their architecture can accommodate three generations of IT hardware upgrades, diminishing the requirement for extensive retrofits as capacity expands.

The firm introduced a comparable modular unit in the previous year known as the AIDC Prefabricated Container Solution. ZTE claims that its containerized solution can function with a PUE of 1.15 through the use of a chilled water wind wall, cold and hot aisle separation, and cold plate liquid cooling with free cooling.

ZTE is predominantly recognized for its telecom products, such as 083G. In recent months, the company has collaborated with U Mobile, EOLO, and SLT-Mobitel for upgrading 5G networks in different locations. Last month, the Chinese supplier finished a proof-of-concept (POC) of a completely portable, off-grid 5G network site that solely relies on 100% green energy in Malaysia.

Additional developments are taking place in China. 29 Sep 2026.
