Riot Games said it will add team-wide voice chat to League of Legends with Patch 26.20, starting with players in North America and Oceania.. The feature will let players speak with all teammates matched into a game, rather than only with premade groups that queued together before the match.
Riot said other regions, including Korea, Latin America and Brazil, may follow if the initial rollout goes well.. Players must be at Honor level 3 or higher to speak in team voice chat. Players below that threshold will be able to listen but not talk..
Honor is League of Legends’ behavior rating system and changes based on player conduct and post-match voting. Riot said it will continue refining the system to better reflect in-game behavior.. Riot also plans to add “voice skins” that let players modify how they sound in chat.
The company said the voice effects will remain understandable during team fights, but it has not specified which voice skins will be available.. Patch 26.20 will also include better noise cancellation, faster connections and improved stability, Riot said.. Community reaction appeared cautious.
One user wrote on the League of Legends subreddit, “I’m glad they are giving voice chat a try. It might not work out, but at least there was an attempt.”. Another user wrote, “I’m optimistic voice chat will remind people your teammates are human and lighten the mood.”.
Riot also said the next League of Legends reveal tied to music is scheduled for the following day.. Featured image credit. Tags: League of Legendsriot games
