Samsung Display has unveiled its M16 smartphone OLED panel, which first appeared on Android in the newly announced iQOO 16 after debuting in Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo.. The panel can reach peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, while the version detailed during the iQOO 16 launch in China delivers up to 2,800 nits of global peak brightness..
Samsung Display’s M16 panel is part of its LEAD 2.0 series. It has WQHD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels and uses LTPO technology to support a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 165Hz.. The panel also covers 1.24 times the DCI-P3 color gamut.
Other listed features include 3,300Hz pulse-width modulation dimming and a 5,000Hz touch sampling rate.. Samsung Display said the screen includes an anti-reflective coating and a polarizer-free design based on on-cell film, or OCF. The company said the panel uses up to 30% less power than the previous generation..
Reports cited in the source material said the M16 panel is also expected to be used in the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra early next year.. Earlier rumors had suggested Google’s Pixel 11 series would use M16 panels, but the iQOO 16 announcement indicates the Pixel 11 lineup is likely using an earlier Samsung Display OLED generation..
