Tesla launches Grok Bot in cars for voice-run errands and email

Tesla launched Grok Bot in its vehicles on Sept. 22, adding a voice-controlled assistant that can manage email, calendars, online purchases and errands from inside the car.. Tesla said in a post on X that “Grok in your Tesla can now do meaningful work for you” and that, with Connectors, users can manage their inbox, calendar and existing files, chats and tasks hands-free..

The system has two layers. Connectors link Grok to third-party services such as Gmail and Google Calendar, while Grok Bot handles multi-step actions such as placing a coffee order, booking a reservation and checking out an Amazon cart by voice.. Drivers can activate Grok by tapping its icon in the app launcher, long-pressing the steering wheel microphone button or saying “Hey Grok.”.

Early-access users demonstrated the feature on Tuesday. One user ordered a Starbucks drink while Full Self-Driving navigated to the store, with Grok confirming the order and total before submitting it for pickup.. Another early-access user used the voice interface to manage email, calendar entries and Amazon orders without opening a separate app..

Grok Bot does not appear as a separate application on the center display. It runs within the existing Grok session alongside controls for navigation, climate, music and phone calls.. The feature requires an AMD infotainment processor, software version 2025.26 or later, and either Premium Connectivity or a stable Wi-Fi connection..

At launch, Grok Bot’s task-delegation features are limited to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, who pay $300 per month. Tesla said additional subscription tiers will get access in later rollouts.. Connectors can be set up by any Tesla owner..

Tesla still classifies the in-car assistant as a beta product. Grok can place phone calls from a linked device, but it cannot yet send text messages.. The company said it is working on deeper integration between Grok and Full Self-Driving for what it described as a “chauffeur-like experience.”.
