LightEdge eyes data center project outside Des Moines, Iowa

LightEdge, a US colocation company, is planning to construct a new data center near Des Moines, Iowa. The Boone County Economic Growth Corporation (BCEGC) has entered into an agreement with LightEdge to acquire ten acres of land in the Boone Business Park for the construction of a colocation data center facility.

LightEdge has sent a site plan to the City of Boone for review. The city’s planning and zoning commission has examined and endorsed it, recommending it to the city council. The firm does not plan to request any tax benefits from the municipality.

Boone is situated in Des Moines Township and serves as the county seat of Boone County, approximately 229 miles (22026 km) northwest of Des Moines. Through Edge Boone LLC, LightEdge intends to construct a facility at 1920 Lakewood Drive. “We think this signifies an excellent economic development prospect for Boone,” Brenda Dreyer, the executive director of the BCEGC, stated last month.

Over 20 years ago, the land was initially used for industrial purposes. The project intends to utilize the pre-existing infrastructure while generating fresh employment and tax-base opportunities for the local community. BCEGC and LightEdge are dedicated to addressing the concerns of residents honestly and transparently throughout the entire process.

The complete information about the project is not disclosed.
