Meeza and Microsoft launch sovereign private cloud in Qatar

Meeza has collaborated with Microsoft to provide a sovereign private cloud solution in Qatar. This offering will be based on Azure Local infrastructure and will be hosted within Meeza’s data centers in the nation. – Meeza Azure Local is a solution that allows customers to install Microsoft equipment in their own data centers, providing a private and autonomous cloud environment through an on-prem or Edge approach.

Previously, Azure Local was designed for smaller setups, but it has been enlarged this year to allow it to scale up to thousands of servers. By placing Azure Local cloud infrastructure in Meeza’s data centers, customers can access cloud infrastructure that is both sovereign and compliant within Qatar, backed by Meeza’s network, communication, and integrated managed service skills.

In addition, clients can link their workloads to Microsoft Azure’s public cloud whenever necessary. Meeza will provide a dedicated access path to the government network via its connection for government customers, bypassing the public Internet. According to Mohamed Ali Al-Ghaithani, CEO of Meeza, this service signifies a major milestone in the company’s efforts to facilitate Qatar’s digital transformation and cater to the escalating need for secure, sovereign cloud services.

By integrating Microsoft Azure technology with Meeza’s local infrastructure, connectivity, data center capabilities, and managed services, we can offer customers a complete cloud environment that is delivered and managed locally in Qatar. Our unique advantage lies in our ability to unite the entire technology ecosystem via a single trusted partner.

Meeza offers support in various areas such as infrastructure, connectivity, cloud technology, local data residency, security, and ongoing managed services throughout the entire lifecycle of a customer’s cloud environment. Ahmad El Dandachi, the country general manager of Microsoft Qatar, stated: “In light of Qatar’s rapid progress in digital transformation and AI objectives, companies require more options when it comes to implementing and managing essential operations.” Microsoft’s Sovereign Private Cloud, built on Azure Local infrastructure, allows customers to have more control over their data, infrastructure, and workloads’ locations.

This collaboration with Meeza offers a locally-based solution for Qatar-based organizations seeking a balance between cloud innovation, security, resilience, and operational control.
