Slackbot can now build dashboards and reports in chats

Slack is rolling out Slackforce Surfaces, a feature that lets users build interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations and microsites directly inside chats through Slackbot.. Users can describe what they need to Slackbot, and the tool uses AI to pull information from relevant conversations and connected apps such as Google Drive and Salesforce to create it..

Once Slackbot creates a Surface, users can share it with colleagues and pin it to channels, where others can view it, interact with it and leave comments.. In an example shared by Slack, a user asked for an arcade-themed visualization of AI token usage, and Slackbot generated an interactive dashboard showing token usage across sales, design and engineering teams..

“You’re not exporting your data to some other tool to make sense of it, you’re asking Slackbot to build the dashboard, the deck, the report right where the conversation already is, and your whole team can act on it together,” Ryan Gavin, Slack’s chief marketing officer, told The Verge in an email.. The release follows a Slackbot overhaul announced months ago that expanded the assistant’s functions to include summarizing information across channels, sorting through messages and finding time to schedule meetings..

Slack also added collaborative vibe coding channels last month.. Slack said Surfaces can also be used to build a live dashboard for a customer support queue or a weather-themed financial forecast that pulls in data from connected apps.. The feature will only pull information that users have given Slack’s AI tools permission to access..

Slackforce Surfaces is available to all customers, including free users, with Slackbot enabled in their workspace, and support for live data is due to start in October.. Featured image credit. Tags: Slackslackbot
