Google and Meta’s Echo subsea cable lands in Singapore

The Echo subsea cable, a joint project between Meta and Google, landed in Singapore on Friday, 31 July.. – Submarine Cable Map. Echo, which will link Singapore and Jakarta to Eureka, California through a cable landing station in Guam, will span more than 17,000km (10,563 miles) at completion.

The cable is partially operational between California and Guam.. The cable was announced in 2021 as a joint venture between Google and Meta. Australian telco Telstra and Trans Pacific Network purchased fiber pairs on the cable in 2024, and subsea cable firm FLAG acquired capacity on the cable in December 2025..

Echo was envisioned alongside its sister cable Bifrost, which also connects Singapore to the US with branching lines in Guam, Mexico, and the Philippines. It became ready for service back in October 2025.. More in Asia Pacific.
