Report: Nvidia plans to invest in inference chip startup d-Matrix

Nvidia is planning to invest in inference chip startup d-Matrix, according to a report from The Information.. Citing three people with knowledge of the deal, the report said the planned investment is part of an effort by Nvidia to make its technology compatible with rival chip designs.. – d-Matrix.

The report comes a month after d-Matrix announced it would adopt Nvidia’s NVLink technology to connect its Raptor processors with the chip giant’s hardware in rack-scale solutions. First unveiled in May 2025 and known as NVLink Fusion, the interconnect technology allows partners to build semi-custom AI infrastructure linking non-Nvidia accelerators with Nvidia hardware..

Other NVLink Fusion partners include the likes of Arm, Fujitsu, Intel, MediaTek, Qualcomm, SiFive, and Synopsys.. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Santa Clara, d-Matrix develops accelerator cards that aim to make AI inferencing workloads quicker and more efficient. Its full-stack platform is powered by the company’s Corsair inference accelerators, JetStream NICS, and Aviator software, which it claims can deliver 10X faster performance, 3X lower cost, and 3–5X better energy efficiency than GPU-based systems..

In November 2025, the startup closed a $275 million Series C funding round, valuing the company at $2 billion. The Information separately reported in July 2026 that d-Matrix was looking to raise additional financing, targeting a $5bn valuation.. More in Investment / M&A / Financing.
